Mikołaj Firlej
Co-founder, General Partner

Mikolaj Firlej is a co-founder and General Partner at Expeditions Fund. Over the last decade, Mikolaj has worked on autonomous weapon systems and the application of AI in defence and intelligence sectors. He started his career in venture since 2016 working for a US deep-tech firm, and established the Centre of Tech and Global Affairs at the University of Oxford. In the past, he worked for the Polish Government at the Prime Minister Office. Mikolaj holds a doctorate from the University of Oxford awarded for a thesis on the use of AI-augmented and autonomous weapon systems in the US DoD. In his personal life, he is supporting gifted schoolchildren, particularly from Beskid Mountains.

Stanisław Kastory
Co-founder, General Partner

Stanisław’s goal is to steer private wealth towards more impact driven approach. In his past he worked for the biggest Polish law firm – Domanski Zakrzewski Palinka (DZP) specializing in M&A advisory. Stanislaw established and led DZP Future to advise startups during a capital raising, restructuring, corporate disputes, and international expansion. Stanislaw holds an MA diploma in Law and Administration from Warsaw University. He dedicates his free time to his two biggest passions – alpine and freestyle skiing.

Ewa Milewska
CFO, Partner

Ewa is an experienced executive with a track record of co-creating Akademeia High School, a top quality educational business and leading its highly successful exit to a global sector investor. Before joining Akademeia in 2017, Ewa spent 12 years at PwC advising on the largest private equity and corporate deals in Poland and across the CEE region. She graduated from the Warsaw School of Economics, completed CFA and ACCA examinations as well as Mastering Board Governance programme at IMD.

Samuel Burrell
Partner

Samuel is a former officer in the Royal Marines, who has joined Expeditions Fund as a Partner and Investment Lead for the UK / AUKUS. Samuel was previously a Senior Investment Partner at the National Security Strategic Investment Fund (NSSIF), a UK government fund focused on investing in national security and defence technologies. He completed an MBA at INSEAD and has 8 years of venture investing experience gained at Octopus Ventures, NKB Group and NSSIF.

Sophia Habsburg-Lothringen
Investment Associate

Sophia Habsburg-Lothringen graduated from IE University in Madrid in International Relations. She is fluent in Hungarian, English, German, and Spanish. After developing a strong interest in defence and security, she worked for the Permanent Delegation of Hungary to NATO, supporting preparations for the 2023 NATO Summit. She has also completed a capstone project with the European Parliament Liaison Office in Spain, focusing on the impact of AI-driven disinformation in electoral processes.

Andrzej Rościszewski
Investment Associate

Andrzej Jan Rościszewski is an Investment Associate with a background in Economics and Social Sciences from Universita Bocconi. In Expeditions Fund he is responsible for evaluating new investment opportunities and market research. During his professional career, Andrzej specialized in analyzing companies in the technology and gaming sectors. His experience in this area has provided him with a strong understanding of market trends, business strategies, and financial models.

Paweł Kastory

Paweł is an entrepreneur and philanthropist, owner of marketing companies, CEO of DDB Poland. Pawel is a Founder and President of the National Museum Friends Association.

Maciej Radziwiłł

Maciej is a private investor and philanthropist, owner of a portfolio of energy companies. In the past he was Chairman of the Advisory Board at PKP Energetyka and Chairman of Trakcja Tiltra.

Sabine Bendiek

Chief People and Operating Officer, Member of the Executive Board of SAP SE, Before joining SAP, she was Chairwoman of the Management Board at Microsoft Germany, ex Partner at EarlyBird.

President Toomas Hendrik Ilves

A former president of Estonia (2006-2016). He has previously served as Estonian foreign minister, member of European Parliament, and the ambassador of Estonia in Washington. A Distinguished Fellow at the Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA).

Khai Tan

Khai is a private Investor in technology companies with longstanding career in private equity. Former Chairman of Bridgepoint in Central and Eastern Europe. Chairman of the board of CTL Logistics and Board Member of Dr Gerard.

VENTURE PARTNERS

Akshay Kiran

Akshay runs the private markets program for a Singapore SFO, focusing on VC/PE. He previously headed up merchant banking at EICM Family Office in Singapore where he led investments in technology venture capital across US, Europe and SE Asia. He joined Milltrust/EICM in 2016 from Pensive Ibis, an investment and advisory firm focusing on Asian energy, infrastructure and industrials deals. He holds a BSc(Hons) in Mathematics, and is concluding an Exec MBA at the University of Oxford, Said Business School.

Marcin Zukowski

Marcin co-founded Snowflake and has been a key member of its engineering organization since. He is a leading expert in database processing, focusing on high performance and modern hardware architectures. Prior to Snowflake, Marcin was the CEO of Vectorwise, an innovative Dutch database company based on his PhD research, acquired by Actian in 2012.

Jan Krzewinski

Executive and investor in the healthcare and life science sector. Previously COO at Polpharma Biologics and board member of Lux Med Group, Diagnostyka and Alpha Medical while at Mid Europa a CEE-focused PE fund.

Jakub Lipiński

Jakub is a software engineer turned serial entrepreneur, investor and mentor. He is a Co-founder and CEO at Polidea (acquired by Snowflake Inc.) and Apphance (acquired by Applause Inc.).

Piotr Romanowski

Piotr is an early stage investor focused on biotech/synbio and fintech. He chairs Boards of two listed biotechs (Ryvu Therapeutics S.A., Selvita S.A.) and an account-to-account payments provider (Kevin EU UAB) and serves as advisor to a few European deep tech VC funds.

Anthony Mensier

With over a decade of expertise in the information industry, Anthony serves as a Venture Partner at Expeditions Fund. Specializing in AI, Advanced Analytics, and Simulation Applications, Anthony’s passion lies in honing machine-assisted human intelligence workflows. His key expertise lies in applying AI in Defence and Intelligence industry. In the past, Anthony worked for CalypsoAI, Improbable Defence, and Janes. He brings a unique blend of agile problem-solving and customer-centric go-to-market strategies. At Expeditions Fund, Anthony is pivotal in guiding companies towards data-engineered transformations and amplifying their intelligence capabilities, ensuring our investments are strategically positioned for success.

Leonardo Quattrucci

10+ years experience in building and leading pioneering programs across big tech and government. A former Quantum Lead at Amazon Web Services and a policy advisor at European Political Strategy Centre. MPP from Oxford School of Government.
